{"id":15895,"date":"2011-09-28T21:51:11","date_gmt":"2011-09-29T03:51:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/news.barrett.net\/?p=15895"},"modified":"2011-09-28T21:51:11","modified_gmt":"2011-09-29T03:51:11","slug":"ronnies-inspiration","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/barrett.net\/2011\/09\/28\/ronnies-inspiration\/","title":{"rendered":"Ronnie\u2019s Inspiration"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It\u2019s always interesting to learn what inspired a successful entrepreneur.\u00a0 For Ronnie Barrett, the founder and CEO of Barrett, it was a river patrol boat in 1982 that featured two Browning .50-caliber\u00a0machine guns.\u00a0 At that time, Barrett was a professional photographer whose assignment was to do a photo shoot of the boat to promote a particular firearms company.<\/p>\n<p>While busy snapping a series of photographs, Barrett was wowed by the amazing Browning Ma Deuce.\u00a0 He wondered to himself if the incredible .50-caliber cartridge could be fired from a rifle; maybe one operated from the shooter\u2019s shoulder.\u00a0 He decided to find out.<\/p>\n<p>With no manufacturing or engineering experience, Barrett hand-drew his idea for a .50-caliber, semi-automatic rifle in three-dimension to show how the rifle should function.<\/p>\n<p>There is much more to the story, but the results of his creative mind, artistic drawings and \u201ccan do attitude\u201d led to the Barrett .50-caliber rifle that morphed into the Model 82A1 \u2013 M107.<\/p>\n<p>Incidentally, Barrett\u2019s archival photograph won a first-place award from the Tennessee Professional Photographers Association.\u00a0 It hangs prominently today on a wall at Barrett Firearms Manufacturing in Murfreesboro.<\/p>\n<p>An observer would guess that the photo was taken on either the Mekong Delta in Vietnam or South America.\u00a0 The truth is that it was made on the Stones River near Nashville.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/news.barrett.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/ronnies-orange-photo-300x193.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-15896 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/news.barrett.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/ronnies-orange-photo-300x193.jpg\" alt=\"ronnies-orange-photo-300x193\" width=\"300\" height=\"193\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It\u2019s always interesting to learn what inspired a successful entrepreneur.\u00a0 For Ronnie Barrett, the founder and CEO of Barrett, it was a river patrol boat in 1982 that featured two&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":3,"featured_media":15896,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"inline_featured_image":false,"footnotes":"","_links_to":"","_links_to_target":""},"categories":[62,1],"tags":[99,100,101,102,40],"class_list":["post-15895","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-firearms","category-uncategorized","tag-award","tag-inspiration","tag-photograph","tag-photographer","tag-ronnie"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v26.5 -
