{"id":16259,"date":"2019-04-05T09:38:52","date_gmt":"2019-04-05T15:38:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/news.barrett.net\/?p=16259"},"modified":"2020-12-29T16:13:43","modified_gmt":"2020-12-29T22:13:43","slug":"barrett-awarded-ussocom-asr-contract","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/barrett.net\/2019\/04\/05\/barrett-awarded-ussocom-asr-contract\/","title":{"rendered":"Barrett\u00ae Awarded USSOCOM ASR Contract"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Murfreesboro, TN: U.S. Department of Defense announced Monday, March 11th, 2019, that Barrett Firearms Manufacturing Inc. has been awarded the contract for ASR (Advanced Sniper Rifle) in support of the U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) with its MRAD (Multi-Role Adaptive Design) Rifle.\u00a0USSOCOM announced in 2016 they were in search of a modular, multi-caliber bolt action sniper rifle capable of converting between 7.62x51mm, .300 Norma Magnum (NM) and .338 Norma Magnum (NM) through a \u201cfull and open competition.\u201d The Barrett MRAD is designed with precision and modularity in mind and will serve the U.S. special operations teams in their efforts.\u00a0\u201cI remember Chris telling me that \u2018this is what all precision rifles will look like one day!\u2019 and he was right. However, aesthetics is not all that makes this rifle; as his development persisted, he was able to achieve more than I ever thought possible.
